About the Brand

From its first vintage of Cabernet Sauvignon in 1973 in South Australia’s Clare Valley, Wakefield Wines has remained proudly family owned and managed by the Taylor family. Now the largest single vineyard owner in the Clare Valley with approx 560 hectares under vine, the family is at the very heart of the picturesque Clare Valley and at the forefront of the family wine business
renaissance in Australia.

In 2009, Wakefield Wines joined with 11 of the most celebrated family names in Australian wine to form Australia’s First Families of Wine (AFFW). The collective 12 represent Australian regions across four states, own more than 5,500 hectares of Australia’s finest vineyards, have over 1200 years of winemaking experience under their belts, and bring to the forum a passion for wine that stems from three or more generations of family winemaking.
