About the Brand
The late Didier Dagueneau built a reputation as one of the
world’s greatest winemakers; a perfectionist, severely pruning
his vines, de-budding and de-leafing vigorously and
maintaining the lowest yields in the region, critical of his
neighbours who overproduced. He became synonymous with
“the best” in Pouilly-Fume.The challenge of continuing
his legacy is now taken up by his family. Here the Sauvignon
grape is known as the Blanc Fumé de Pouilly and it has also
given its name to the appellation. Dagueneau’s two icon wines are
the ‘Pur Sang’ (thoroughbred) and ‘Silex’ (after the special rich
soils on which the vines grow). Both are barrel fermented with
no malolactic fermentation. The wines are stunning with
extraordinary minerality, power and complexity, unquestionably
the finest Sauvignons a person can taste. These wines will age
for up to 15 years.
